The Rolex Submariner Date (1680), also known as the "Red" Submariner is the first Submariner to offer a date function making it an exquisite timepiece. It boasts a 40mm steel case, seamlessly blending luxury with durability. Adding to its allure, the bidirectional rotatable steel bezel, meticulously graduated with a 60-minute scale, not only is it visually pleasing, but it also empowers the wearer to effortlessly read time intervals.

The black dial in contrast with its luminescent hands and markers provide optimal legibility in various lighting condition. Positioned at the three o'clock position, the date window is thoughtfully placed for practicality. Even though it has a water resistance of up to 200 meters, to preserve its vintage nature it is advised to avoid exposing it to water.

This masterful creation is complemented by a three-link Oyster bracelet and a secure crowned folding clasp crafted from steel. This combination offers both comfort and reliability for wearers.

It is driven by an in-house automatic movement 1570, it delivers precise timekeeping with a power reserve of up to 48 hours for extended wear. The solid case back protects the internal components from dust and moisture, exemplifying Rolex’s unwavering commitment to excellence.

The Rolex Submariner Date (1680) embodies the culmination of meticulous craftsmanship and cutting-edge engineering, resulting in a timepiece that harmoniously integrates form and function that is able to transcend the passing of time.

I have never seen one of theses without a cyclops. why is seller not replying to messages and addressing this? This watch must have had mods and I can't see Rolex changing that during a service.

I really wish these auctions would include more detailed info. The verbiage on these auctions all follow the same template with very little individual detail, which I think is important for these vintage watches

No cyclops, must not be original crystal. I don’t think the 1680 ever came without cyclops, unless they replaced crystal/plexiglass for servicing, without it
