Rolex Datejust 36mm Wimbledon Fluted Jubilee Steel
The brand joined forces with the sport at its most iconic tennis event, the one that attracts the biggest global following – a seminal act that heralded the strength of Rolex’s commitment. In southwest London, the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club plays host to Wimbledon. The world’s oldest tennis tournament, The Championships has been the home of the sport and the temple of grass-court tennis since the inaugural event in 1877. Wimbledon is not only the home of tennis but also the place where history has been written year after year for almost a century and a half. Rolex has proudly supported this center of sporting excellence for more than 40 years.
Rolex uses Oystersteel for its steel watch cases. Specially developed by the brand, Oystersteel belongs to the 904L steel family, alloys most commonly used in high-technology and in the aerospace and chemical industries, where maximum resistance to corrosion is essential. Oystersteel is extremely resistant, offers an exceptional finish once polished, and maintains its beauty even in the harshest environments. This watch is USED, but was worn with care, so shows very little signs of wear and tear, and comes with a full box and papers.
The design, development, and production of Rolex bracelets and clasps, as well as the stringent tests they face, involve advanced high technology. And, as with all the components of the watch, aesthetic controls by the human eye guarantee impeccable beauty. The Jubilee, a supple and comfortable five-piece link metal bracelet, was designed and made especially for the launch of the Oyster Perpetual Datejust in 1945.
The dial is the distinctive face of a Rolex watch, the feature most responsible for its identity and readability. Characterized by hour markers fashioned from gold finished in Wimbledon green, to prevent tarnishing, every Rolex dial is designed and manufactured in-house, largely by hand to ensure perfection. The Rolex fluted bezel is a mark of distinction. Originally, the fluting of the Oyster bezel had a functional purpose: it served to screw the bezel onto the case helping to ensure the waterproofness of the watch. It was therefore identical to the fluting on the case back, which was also screwed onto the case for waterproofness, using specific Rolex tools. Over time, the fluting became an aesthetic element, a genuine Rolex signature feature. Today the fluted bezel is a mark of distinction
The caliber 3235 is a new-generation movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. This self-winding mechanical movement is at the forefront of the art of watchmaking. A consummate demonstration of Rolex technology, it offers fundamental gains in terms of precision, power reserve, resistance to shocks and magnetic fields, convenience, and reliability. It incorporates the new Chronergy escapement patented by Rolex, which combines high energy efficiency with great dependability. Made of nickel-phosphorus, it is also insensitive to magnetic interference.
