The Aqua Terra arrived in 2002 as Omega's answer to a question the market had been asking for years: what does a dress watch look like when it's built to actually get wet? The answer was the Teak Concept dial, horizontal lines running across the surface like the planking of a yacht deck, functional in its inspiration and quietly beautiful in execution. This particular reference carries an additional layer of history. The "Captain's Watch" designation connects it to Omega's role as Official Timekeeper of the 2012 Ryder Cup, one of the most storied events in golf, lending the piece a specificity that standard Aqua Terra references don't carry. It wears that distinction without fanfare, the silver dial and clean case lines betraying nothing of the backstory unless you know to look. The 41.5mm stainless steel case runs 12.95mm thin and sits on a bracelet that drapes with the easy confidence of a watch that has been refined over generations. Beneath the domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, Co-Axial calibre 8500 beats at 3.5Hz across twin barrels in series, delivering 60 hours of power reserve. The bridges and oscillating mass wear Geneva waves in arabesque, visible through the transparent caseback, finishing that belongs in a higher price bracket entirely. 2014 production. Incredible condition throughout, complete set with hang tag. This is the Aqua Terra for the collector who wants provenance with their patina, and finds this one with neither yet to come.
