ABOUT THIS TIMEPIECE
The 2000–2001 Rolex Daytona 116523 marked an important turning point in the model’s history. Its Rolex Caliber 4130 was introduced in 2000 as the brand’s first fully in-house automatic chronograph movement, replacing the Zenith–based Caliber 4030 used in the previous generation. Offering a 72-hour power reserve and a more streamlined chronograph architecture, the 4130 helped establish the modern Daytona. This K-serial example combines yellow gold and stainless steel in a classic 40mm case, complemented by a grey dial and two-tone Oyster bracelet. It represents one of the earliest production years of the six-digit Daytona generation and an important milestone in Rolex chronograph development.
