Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar 40mm Steel, Silver Dial, Ref. 1 90 02 42 32 05 - built this dial around a deliberate imbalance. The hours and minutes are pushed off to the left, the small seconds overlap them, and the Panorama Date and moon phase float on the right like they’re on their own page. On paper it sounds busy, but on the wrist it’s one of the most balanced and distinctive dials in German watchmaking. The blued steel hands against the warm silver dial are what catch your eye first, and the silver moon set in a deep blue sky is what keeps you looking. Turn it over and the sapphire caseback shows true Saxon finishing: the three quarter plate with Glashütte ribbing, blued screws, and an off center skeletonized 21k gold rotor. Inside is the in house Caliber 90 02 automatic with 47 jewels and 42 hours of power reserve. The 40mm polished and brushed steel case is 12.7mm thick and fitted with a black alligator strap and folding clasp. It’s a watch for someone who already knows the usual names and wants something with real depth.
