The Breguet Type XX Transatlantique (3820ST) is a flyback chronograph, which means the chronograph can be instantly reset and restarted with a single push of a button rather than the traditional stop, reset, restart sequence. This is a true pilot’s complication originally developed for French military aviation use.
The movement is the Calibre 582 based on the legendary Lemania 1350, which is one of the most respected chronograph movements ever made. The same movement family was used in military watches issued to French Navy pilots. Serial number 7X,XXX places this as a genuine mid-production example. The Transatlantique designation means this is the civilian version of the Aéronavale, which was the actual French military issue piece, making it incredibly rare and collectible. Original retail was $10,600, and Breguet no longer produces this reference, making every example finite and increasingly desirable. Unpolished original brushed and satin case finishing is fully intact which serious collectors specifically look for and pay a premium for.
