The Blancpain Air Command AC02-36B40-63A is a 42.5mm luxury flyback chronograph featuring an 18K red-gold case, blue sunburst dial, blue ceramic bezel, sapphire crystal, and sapphire exhibition caseback. It is powered by Blancpain’s in-house F388B automatic chronograph movement, operating at a high frequency of 5 Hz (36,000 vph), with a 50-hour power reserve, 35 jewels, 297 components, and a silicon balance spring. The flyback function allows the chronograph to be reset and immediately restarted with a single push, while the movement provides 1/10-second timing. Water resistance is 30 meters, and the watch comes on a calfskin leather strap with a pin buckle.
The Air Command draws its design inspiration from Blancpain’s 1950s pilot chronographs, giving it a distinctive vintage aviation character while incorporating modern materials and movement technology. Its combination of solid red gold, blue ceramic, and an advanced high-frequency flyback movement makes it one of Blancpain’s more distinctive modern chronographs and an interesting alternative to more common luxury sports chronographs.
