Abraham-Louis Breguet served as official chronometer maker to the French Navy, and the Marine collection carries that appointment as both heritage and design brief. The 5817 translates that legacy into a 39mm 18-carat rose gold case with coin-edge detail, the black rhodium-plated dial hand-engraved on a rose engine with a wave turbine guilloché pattern at the center, a surface that connects directly to the nautical world the Marine was born from. A brushed silver chapter ring frames the guilloché field with rose gold Roman numeral hour markers and diamond-shaped luminescent dot minutes, Breguet-style rose gold hands sweeping above it with the elegant restraint the Maison has practiced since the 18th century. The large date at 6 o'clock sits in a double aperture with the purposefulness that Breguet's big date complications always achieve. Calibre 517GG powers it automatically across 285 components and 35 jewels with 65 hours of power reserve, visible through the engine-turned sapphire caseback. On the black rubber strap with rose gold deployant clasp, 100 meters of water resistance completes a watch that takes its maritime credentials seriously.
